WHAT IS A PENDULUM? Pendulums are divination tools – they help in gaining insight and understanding about your own self, someone else, an incident or an occurrence. Pendulums have been used for ages for divination and determining the answer to any question which the rational mind cannot perceive. This is accomplished by allowing the body, through a process known as ‘muscle testing’, to determine the outcome.

Hold the pendulum between your finger and thumb. Keep your arm outstretched, so that the chain and weight are hanging freely. Now simply ask a question which you know the answer to and determine which circular or up or down motion is yes or no. Relax – then ask your question. The pendulum moves by reacting to energy impulses from your unconscious. With practice, and once you become comfortable in using your pendulum you can use your divination skills to answer all sorts of questions and to make decisions. One of the reasons that the pendulum is a good tool is because it does not require a lot of understanding or analysis. You will clearly get a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer. You may sometimes also get no movement at all, which means your question could be vague and needs to be rephrased or the situation is not clear to read. The skill lies in asking the right question in the right order to narrow and direct the information that is streaming from your unconscious.

The pendulum is just a tool to confirm what you already know by instinct.  Use your pendulum in a quiet place and use it with confidence. This will aid in getting and interpreting correct answers to your questions. You can try the following practice routine:

  1. Meditate quietly for a few minutes or concentrate on your breathing.
  2. Use a deck of playing cards –shuffle them to put the cards in random order.
  3. Pick up the top card off the deck and place it face down on a flat surface. Hold your pendulum over the card and ask the question, ‘Is this card green?’ Observe if your pendulum moves in your ‘yes’ pattern or ‘no’ pattern. Turn the card over to see if you were right. You can practice with more cards to perfect your divination skills, until you consistently get the correct results.

Bear in mind that you already know the answer. The pendulum is just a tool to authenticate your intuition.
You may require practice for your pendulum to answer time and again, but when it does you can find answers to many questions and help your decision making. For example:
